The history of Hillen de Lelie BV

For years on end, Amsterdam and the 'Zaan' region have always had strong economical ties with other parts of the world. This is where the foundation for Hillen de Lelie was laid. In 1913, Johan Hillen started an iron-foundry and engineering plant in Amsterdams Grasweg. With the 'Zaan'-region just around the corner, he further expanded his enterprise and became a leading supplier of production machines. Hillen de Lelie's principal philosophy was then, and still is, to produce 'custom-made' products; to develop and provide the right solution to a given problem. A principle which has preserved the company up till this very day.

Since 1913, Hillen de Lelie has produced a large number of machines for industrial applicatons whereby innovation has always been the central point of focus. A process which resulted in the company making a revolutionary discovery around 1930: the Ball Check Valve. This invention has resulted in an enormous improvement of water-treatment installations both at home and abroad. The ball check valve is a product with an unprecedented number of possible applications in all industrial and goverment-owned (waste) water systems.

The ball check valve makes an important contribution to a cleaner environment. Hillen de Lelie's excellent service and technical support enable an increasing number of companies and government organisations to achieve a better living environment.

Hillen de Lelie BV is represented in more than 45 different countries.
